Vedanta Iron Ore Business (IOB) contributed Rs. 1 crore each to Goa and Karnataka State COVID-19 relief fund to help the state tackle the challenge. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri B.S Yediyurappa applauded Vedanta's contribution for the welfare of the community.
IOB is reaching out to the communities through various on ground activities like distribution of masks, sanitizers, dry ration, medical facilities, fumigation, sanitation etc. So far, they have distributed 4500 masks to medical centers, 500 medical kits have also been provided to the district administration of Chitradurga. 250 personal protective kits and 5,000 hand gloves to Superintendent of Police Chitradurga. They handed over 10 ICU cots and 10 Multi-Para Monitor to the Chitradurga District Administration to get it installed at the COVID-19 Relief District Hospital. Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore provided 200 - N95 masks to Sanquelim Health Center - Goa & 450 masks to DMG Office & RTO Office at Chitradurga - Karnataka & Panchayat at Vazare -Maharashtra. Additionally, 55 food packets and 4855 groceries packets have been distributed benefitting 1500+ needy families of Goa & Karnataka.
Fumigation at Public places such as police stations, police outposts, health centers, marketplaces etc. have been done. Until now, 105 litres of hand sanitizers have been provided to the hospitals and 500 sanitizer bottles to the district administration of Chitradurga.
Vedanta IOB has also handed over 20 electrical water dispensers to the South Goa's collector's office which are installed at prominent places. They have also provided ambulance service to the district administration at Goa, Vazare-Maharastra, Manoharpur-Jharkhand and Bheemasamudra- Karnataka. Shelter home facility at Codli mines has been provided to the stranded migrant labourers and 20 full body suits supplied to Goa fire department. Teams have been carrying out awareness campaigns and sensitization through trainings, posters and videos.
Vedanta VGCB unit also provided N-95 masks, gloves and sanitizer to Harbour Police Station of Vishakhapatnam Port Trust. Fumigation and sanitization was done at the police station & government offices at Vizag.
