The Nand Ghar Story

Nand Ghar, the flagship project of Anil Agarwal Foundation, the social impact arm of Vedanta, is a network of modern Anganwadis. It provides the communities holistic development opportunities through education, health, nutrition and skilling. With a goal to develop 29,000 Nand Ghars by the year 2025, Anil Agarwal Foundation has already set up ~6000 Nand Ghars across 14 states in India.

Nand Ghar is committed to the Prime Minister's national vision of eradicating child malnutrition, providing education and healthcare, and empowering women with skill development.

Transforming the lives of 70 mn children and 20 mn women across 1.37 mn Anganwadis in India through Nand Ghars.

Our Work
Infrastructure
These Anganwadis are modernized centers constructed using state-of-the-art technology. Existing Anganwadis are renovated and redesigned into child friendly structures that are equipped with 24x7 electricity through solar and grid connection along with LED televisions, tablets, water purifiers, smart kits, attractive furniture along with access to sanitation facilities.
Services
Nand Ghar is a hub for quality services and facilities intended to enhance the Anganwadi experience for children, women and the community at large. With initiatives around nutrition, education through televisions and tabs, health interventions through telemedicine and MHV, women empowerment and animal welfare, these centers have become resource centers for the beneficiaries.

Our Verticals:

Nutrition
As part of its nutrition initiative, Anil Agarwal Foundation through project Nand Ghar recently launched a pilot project to deliver multi- millet nutri bars to almost 50,000 children daily in the age group of 3 to 6 years for a period of 6 months in Anganwadis including Nand Ghars. These bars that have been manufactured by Troo Good and endorsed by Nutrihub, ICAR-IIMR (Indian Institute of Millets Research) are supporting eradication of malnutrition and bolstering attendance at Nand Ghars.
Health
Nand Ghar also provides health services at the doorstep through the models of Mobile Health Vans and Telemedicine. Through access to digital healthcare, the beneficiaries benefit from the best available doctors providing specialized care.
Education
Nand Ghar aims to improve pre-primary education by interactive learning. BaLA designs, pre-loaded content on TV and smart kits, tablets and network of WhatsApp along with capacity building sessions are a regular feature at Nand Ghars.
Women empowerment
Nand Ghars also ensure that the women beneficiaries of the villages have access to empowerment opportunities. Nand Ghar supports scheme linkage activities and are trained in various trades along with linkage to income augmenting opportunities through job work, placements, market linkage, etc.

Agar Bachpan Se Poocha Khana Khaya Toh Desh Ka Kal Banaya

Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF), the social impact arm of Vedanta Limited launched a nationwide movement, to address the pressing issues of hunger and malnutrition.

Launched in the September month or National Nutrition Month in the year 2023, the movement for #zerohunger with the tagline 'Agar Bachpan Se Puchha Khaana Khaya Toh Desh Ka Kal Banaya' highlights the importance of basic nutrition for children in our country, to nurture their untapped potential and to ensure that they are not devoid of opportunities of growth.

The movement represents the Foundation's dedication to build a better future for children and youth in India by ensuring balanced nutrition required for growth and development.

2015

24th Jun

We presented a proof of concept to the then Ministry of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Menaka Gandhi. The prototype Nand Ghar was in Hassanpur, Sonipat in Haryana

2015

21st Sept

Nand Ghar MOU was signed with Ministry of Women and Child Development to develop 4000 Nand Ghars pan India.

2016

14th Apr

First Nand Ghar was inaugurated by the then Human Resource Development Minister, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani in Nagepur village, Varanasi in UP.

2022

08th Feb

Nand Ghar MOU was signed with the Govt. of Rajasthan to upgrade 25,000 Nand Ghars across the state.

2023

19th Apr

Nand Ghar MOU was signed with Varanasi Administration to develop 975 Nand Ghars in the district.

Today

24th Jun

5700+ Nand Ghars have upgraded across 14 states in India.
